DBT Skills Training Groups

Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills Training Groups

MBSU no longer requires individual therapy in order to attend Skills Group.

The general goal of DBT Skills Training is to learn how to change your own behaviors, emotions, and thoughts that are linked to
problems in living and are causing misery and distress.

The DBT Skills Training Groups listed below are open to persons not enrolled in the MBSU Comprehensive DBT Program.

No prior DBT treatment is required to attend our Skills Training Groups.

Goals of DBT Skills Group

Learn essential life-skills in a safe, comfortable classroom setting with other people receiving comprehensive DBT services. Learn how to be more aware of your thoughts and emotions, to fully experience your senses, and use this awareness (mindfulness) to better tolerate distress, regulate your emotions, and improve the quality of your relationships. Learn how to view life in a balanced way, and move away from a black and white perspective of the world. Stop the all-or-nothing thinking, and learn to walk the middle path.
